Coupling of a Nonlinear Structure with Sloshing

In this paper the role of solid nonlinearity on fluid–structure interaction (FSI) is studied. First a simple mass-spring-damper system with third-degree spring coupled linear sloshing to study effect nonlinearity. It shows that even both systems show similar behavior in free vibration tests, but caused 50% less amplitude vibration. Then higher order tuned liquid damper which modeled by boundary element method (BEM) examined. Finally, coupling nonlinear calculated at high-resolution smoothed particle analyzed. The results reveal considering surface BEM has not improved prediction significantly and full NavierStokes calculations another phase step response after two periods comparison estimation. As shown part can cause big difference pointed necessity use accurate fluid models such as or hydrodynamics well identification before coupling.
